Defense Stocks Surge! Could “This Company” Become Taiwan’s Next Strategic Champion? Tapping the Counter-UAS Market

Taiwan stocks opened higher today (the 6th), but selling pressure gradually emerged and intensified toward the close. The TAIEX ended down 224.23 points at 46,556.39, a decline of 0.48%, with turnover of approximately NT$1.019666 trillion. However, benefiting from policy support related to the draft “Special Act for the Procurement of Domestically Produced Unmanned Vehicles for National Defense,” defense and drone-related stocks bucked the broader market trend and moved higher. Among them, Taiwanese UAV system integrator JC Tech announced that it has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with an internationally renowned defense radar company and secured exclusive agency rights in Taiwan for its AI AESA counter-unmanned aircraft system (C-UAS) radar products, drawing significant market attention.

Could It Become Taiwan’s Next Strategic Champion? Tapping the Counter-UAS Market

JC Tech stated that the two parties will integrate autonomous UAV platforms, AI edge computing, and advanced low-altitude radar technologies to create a comprehensive low-altitude defense solution combining offensive, defensive, and system-integration capabilities. Applications will include military defense, airports, seaports, energy facilities, and other critical infrastructure. The cooperation will also advance an ODM model and localize counter-UAS radar production in Taiwan, enabling domestically produced UAVs and counter-UAS systems to be integrated for global markets and to capture opportunities in non-China supply chains and the counter-drone industry.

On the technical front, JC Tech noted that after integrating the AI AESA counter-UAS radar, the system can effectively detect small drones in the 35-centimeter class at ranges exceeding 10 kilometers, while supporting all-weather operation, multi-target tracking, and AI-based identification. By providing one-stop integration from low-altitude threat detection and target identification to tracking and countermeasure operations, JC Tech has become one of the few Taiwanese companies with capabilities spanning attack UAVs, counter-UAS radar, and overall system integration, strengthening Taiwan’s competitiveness in the low-altitude defense industry.

JC Tech has long invested in autonomous UAV research and development and possesses comprehensive design, manufacturing, and system-integration capabilities. Its core technologies fully exclude Chinese supply chains, making it one of Taiwan’s early UAV companies to achieve fully domestic aircraft production. To meet the needs of modern asymmetric warfare, its UAV platforms use modular designs that can quickly accommodate different payloads according to mission requirements, supporting tactical reconnaissance, intelligence collection, precision strike, inspection, and other missions. Its products have also been validated in high-intensity conflict environments, attracting cooperation inquiries from government and defense organizations in Japan, South Korea, the United States, and the Middle East.

In addition, to accelerate its overseas market expansion, JC Tech recently joined ProOptics and Lightspot Technology to establish Oplus Group, integrating optical modules, energy systems, AI edge computing, and UAV manufacturing capabilities to provide comprehensive low-altitude defense and intelligent inspection solutions. Oplus Group was also recently invited to participate in an international investment forum hosted by JD WealthWise Capital in Tokyo, where it engaged with major Japanese investment institutions and family offices regarding fundraising and received expressions of investment interest from multiple U.S. and Japanese companies and investment institutions. JC Tech emphasized that it will continue to deepen its capabilities in national defense and security, critical-infrastructure protection, and low-altitude economy applications, while working with international partners to expand into Japan, the United States, South Korea, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia, positioning Taiwan as an important global base for non-China supply chains in low-altitude defense.
